In the morning of 14th November, 2021, twenty five children of 11th and 12th Standards from Ravenshaw Higher Secondary School and their teachers visited the High Court premises at Cuttack and took glimpses of the statues of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das and Justice B.K. Ray, the first Chief Justice of the High Court of Orissa. The students were enthused to see the Chief Justice’s Courts and Chambers in the Heritage Building and the New Building of the Court as well as the photograph gallery of Former Chief Justices and Judges. While roaming around the corridors the students had lot of interesting queries about lives of Lawyers and Judges and about Court functioning and the Justice Delivery System which were answered by the lawyers Mr. Bibhu Prasad Tripathy, Mrs. Pami Rath and Mr. Saswat Acharya. Students visited the High Court Bar Association Hall where they interacted with the Office Bearers of the Association and the young Lawyers. They were told about eminent legal luminaries of the State having made contribution of national importance. Apart from the High Court the students also visited the Aain Seva Bhawan, the new building housing the office of Odisha State Legal Services Authority recently inaugurated by Justice N.V. Ramana, the Chief Justice of India, In Aain Seva Bhawan the students were explained how the Alternative Dispute Redressal (ADR) mechanism has catered to the need of poor litigants over the years. At Odisha Judicial Academy the students interacted with Judicial Officers and the Chief Justice of the High Court Dr S Muralidhar. The Chief Justice told them about the nobility of legal profession and the contribution of legal fraternity as a whole in nation building. He stressed on the ability to recognize injustice and the constitutional values to be nurtured through Judicial System. He encouraged the students to aspire towards becoming Lawyers and Judges and being instruments of dispensation of justice for the poor and downtrodden litigants seeking justice.
